Summary Statement

A chart illustrating the type of PPE needed for refractory ceramic fibers, glass fiber and mineral wool.
Spring 2005

The following charts apply to Ontario, Canada. In the U.S., OSHA has no specific standard or permissible exposure limit for workers exposed to these materials, but supports voluntary efforts to reduce worker exposure to refractory ceramic fibers. However, OSHA’s Respiratory Protection and PPE standards are applicable and compliance with these rules is required to protect workers exposed to these and all other hazardous substances.
