Notice to Readers: Occupational Health Guidelines for Remediation Workers at Bacillus anthracis-Contaminated Sites - United States, 2001-2002. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, NIOSH, which is part of the CDC, has outlined a program to prevent exposure to Anthrax bacteria among hazmat workers during decontamination, remediation, or clean-up of contaminated buildings. The article discusses OSHA HAZWOPER medical requirements, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), antibiotic medicines, and recommended medical monitoring.
