Summary Statement

This recall involves Snap-on ratcheting tie downs sold in a package of four. The ratchet handle can fail during use, releasing the secured load, posing an injury hazard to consumers. The 15 foot long tie downs are straps used to secure heavy items or oversize loads to trailers, trucks and hand trolleys. The product’s ratchet mechanism is black and the straps are yellow with “Snap-On” printed in red across the strap. Product number 871343S is printed on the upper right corner of the packaging. Recalled units have at least one silver metal tab that is flush with the openings in the black metal ratchet handle. The firm has received one report of the ratchet handle failing, resulting in the loss of a heavy load from the bed of a pickup truck. No injuries have been reported.
